2019 Fall Wedding Trends
If you’re planning (or planning to attend) an autumn wedding in 2019, you’re in luck! The fall season is looking to include natural touches while incorporating new trends that are sure to wow guests and bring some extra flair to your big day.
A comeback to the tech free, mix and match details, and deep colors are just a few of the things to look out for this fall. Check out our complete list below for some of the hottest trends in autumn weddings.
SHADES OF PURPLE
Purple – especially deeper shades – is on trend to be the hit color of the season. While lighter shades will definitely pop up, expect to see a variety of darker shades this autumn with purple leading the pack. Thoughtful lighting and color-rich centerpieces will also add to the deep color ambiance this year.
VIDEO MAPPING
Video mapping is going to start making its mark this year, as the it becomes more accessible to couples. Video mapping is essentially the use of projectors and lighting to transform any space in any way you choose. Couples will have the opportunity to use colors, shading, and designs in ways that we’ve never seen before to really customize their space and make it their own.
OUTDOOR CELEBRATIONS ARE STILL IN
Outdoor, rustic, and barn weddings are not going anywhere anytime soon (yay!) – but expect to see a rise in a more refined, custom gathering. The unpolished bohemian affair is taking a backseat to a polished, elevated event with finer notes and lots of texture. There will also be a greater shift into the al fresco wedding – in an open field or mountainside. Minimalism is coming back and open-air receptions will be a big hit.
NATURAL ELEMENTS
Sophisticated wood walls and wooden banquet tables are the elegance brides are looking for this fall. Lush greenery will be used in a big way to help the shift from rustic to modern. Expect to see potted plants and silk fabrics that naturally liven up the space while still having the feeling of an intimate affair.
DAHLIAS
This romantic flower – with a bit of whimsy - is officially in for 2019. Brides are loving the different arrangements that can be made because of the wide color variety and intricate layers.
MIX & MATCH
More and more weddings are going with a mix & match vibe with even the groomsmen ditching the traditional tux and mixing it up. Expect to see this even more this year, with dresses, place settings and even chairs being different styles.
CAKE
This season will see an even greater shift away from fondant design to a clean, textured look dressed up with natural elements. The naked cake is still in but expect some touches of drizzle and greenery without much flair. Cakes are still getting smaller, and couples are supplementing fun, unique treats for dessert.
SMALL PLATES
Along with a sized-down cake, the food is also getting away from traditional plated dinner and more into a customized small plate menu. Even if there is a sit down, expect to see more, smaller courses as couples have an opportunity to use food as a style in itself.
UNPLUGGED CEREMONIES
Move over hashtag - unplugged ceremonies are becoming more popular every year! More and more couples are encouraging guests to put away their cell phones and enjoy the moment during the ceremony. (The reception might be another story). Expect to see signs pop up that suggest a cell phone free zone as more couples embrace the moment.
Fall weddings are all about embracing the whimsy in the air. With this year’s trends, expect to see an even greater shift away from traditional weddings and into the natural, mismatched celebration that incorporates a romantic feel while still being polished and elegant.
